I see beauty in every face. I find a story in every figure. This is true in my life as well as in my art. It fuels my art practice, which includes painting, drawing and small sculpture. It also informed my career as a clothing designer and maker, and founder/owner of a boutique clothing store. It is about finding the beauty and mystery that each figure holds.

I work primarily in acrylic, often in combination with drawing materials and stitching. I start by layering color and marks on the paper. I work intuitively, looking for shapes that evoke some aspect of the figure, discovering my subject as I paint. What’s important is an emotional connection to what is emerging rather than a realistic portrayal. I imagine where they are, what just happened, and what they are thinking. I see revealed a complexity in each character, and an enigmatic gaze that tells a whole human story.
